Although you can use your “Real ID” for travel in the continental U.S. and Hawaii, you will need more than you new drivers license for international travel.  Check your passport expiration, as travel to some countries requires up to 6 months before your passport expires.

While it’s possible to expedite a passport renewal, there are no guarantees that you will get your passport renewed in the timeframe promised by the State Department.

Is it safe to travel to your destination?

With all the terrorism and civil unrest in the world today, some destinations are not safe, and probably should be avoided for safety reasons.  Other destinations are probably as safe as you are at your home.  No one has a crystal ball to avoid any and all perils in life, so it’s better to check for safe places to travel and plan to have a good time. 

We have packed multiple times, and if you can’t remember when you ever forgot something, count your blessings.  Most of remember the trip where we forgot…!  Avoid those frustrations with a checklist or just see if someone has a few good ideas.

Unless you can present a valid U.S. Passport or Passport Card, you as a U.S. citizen, will not be able to fly on commercial aircraft without a REAL ID.  Because of the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001, congress passed the REAL ID act in 2005 to set new standards for driver’s licenses and identification cards in all 50 states.  Even though all states were in compliance in 2020, official TSA enforcement is enforced by May 7, 2025.  Chances are you already have the new driver’s license, as identified by a gold star at the top right, and having a hologram that makes counterfeiting extremely difficult.  To travel internationally (outside the U.S.), you will need a valid Passport or Passport Card.

Some vacation packages require payment in full at the time of booking.  However, many of our packages allow you to make an initial deposit and final payment at a later date.  Your travel advisor will have the details.

Technically no, not to book.  However, a passport is required to travel outside the U.S. and must not expire before returning from your trip.  While traveling, some countries may require that your passport not expire for up to 6 months after your trip is complete.  In addition, it is very important that the information provided and used to book all reservations is the same information found on your passport.  And obtaining the passport and ensuring legal compliance to obtain the passport is the traveler’s responsibility.

No, but travel insurance is highly recommended.  Unforeseen circumstances from your health, extreme weather changes or world events could affect your priceless travel experience.  Your travel is an investment worth protecting.

Once a trip is booked and a deposit has been received, changes will have a service fee.  Trip cancellations also result in additional charges as required by airlines and resort suppliers.  Trip insurance can sometimes defer some of these costs.
